The Rethink Nature partnership is a group of five leading species conservation organisations united around a shared goal “to conserve and protect the UK’s biological diversity and natural environment, with a specific focus on species recovery” across the four nations of the UK.
Many species are facing catastrophic declines in the UK and globally
Headlines of the State of Nature report (published in 2023) highlighted critical declines in the UK's wildlife, with nearly one in six of the 10,000 plus species assessed classed as threatened in Great Britain and therefore at risk of extinction.
We must urgently respond to this crisis – to rebuild nature and increase the richness and abundance of the UK’s native species.
This will require transformative actions which no single organisation can take on at the necessary scale and pace. The Rethink Nature partnership will use its collective strength, skills and knowledge, and link with relevant actors at local and national levels, to achieve scaled up and urgent action for species.
Action for species also brings wider benefits, as landscapes well managed for species and nature contribute to climate change mitigation, bring economic benefits and contribute to our wellbeing.
